Since arriving in America from Belpasso, Italy, more than 30 years ago, Giuseppe Prezzavento has been serving up delicious food.

His American culinary career began at a pizzeria, the first of several where he would work. After his time at the pizzerias, he was a cook at Giuseppe's on Grand and operated the Longshot Salon Bar & Grill in Portage des Sioux before becoming a chef at Illinois' Fairmont Park.

Making food for more than a thousand people at a time while working on a team at Fairmont Park taught Giuseppe an important lesson, "Don't skimp." Giuseppe wants to be sure everyone goes home full and happy... and carrying a doggie bag.

In October of 2006, Giuseppe and his wife, Grace, opened Trattoria Giuseppe, with his years of American eatery experience and his signature spaghetti sauce ready to impress the patrons. The entire Prezzavento family is a part of the restaurant: Giuseppe cooks, Grace serves as hostess and their sons, John Paul and Joe, can often be found working or enjoying the food. The Prezzaventos believe family is an important aspect of business, as well as being a big part of the restaurant's inviting atmosphere.

Giuseppe says, "Everything we do here comes from the heart."
